Designing with iPAD App for Cricut Explore Coming Soon

New App Image

I have some great news to share…coming mid-December, Cricut will have a NEW Design Space App for the iPad that will allow you to actually “Design and Cut” with your Cricut Explore machine.  Currently, there is an iPad app but it only allows you to use the Make It Now projects in Design Space.

The NEW Design Space App is what users have been waiting on to give them flexibility in designing ON THE GO for Cricut Explore and WHENEVER INSPIRATION STRIKES !

Here is the info I have from Cricut so far:

  • It’s a FREE app that will be available in iTunes mid-December 2014
  • It will work on any iPad 2 or higher versions
  • It will need the Cricut Explore Bluetooth Adapter* to cut
  • It will allow you to design and save in the app then cut later from your iPad
  • It will allow you to design and save then cut later from your computer
  • It will allow you to use SVG files to design but you have to import them first in Design Space via your computer
  • It will have full design capabilities such as welding, attaching, flatten, mirroring,  re-sizing, etc
  • PLUS it will have a few Added Features such as “Snap to Grid” and “Centering”

AND if that wasn’t enough to make you do cartwheels and go “YEAH !!”, in first half of 2015 you will be able to WORK OFFLINE in the Design Space App.

I know you are wondering at this point, will it be available for Android ?  Don’t shoot the messenger but Cricut is currently focused on getting this right in the iOS devices and has made no commit to a release for Android at this date.

Luckily, I will get a chance to play with the NEW Design Space App over the next couple of weeks to give it a test run.  So stay tuned for more information on this awesome new app that will give us a way to design on the go for our Cricut Explore like we used to do with our Gypsy devices on former Cricut machines.

If this capabililty is what you have been waiting for, purchase the Cricut Explore AND Cricut Wireless Adapter NOW to be ready to design with your iPAD THIS YEAR!!!

All my comments are my own opinions on those products. I appreciate your support when you purchase using the post links.

I was wondering if we will have to have wi-fi to use the app when it is first released? Or is working off-line with the app going to come later? I have read conflicting information and was wondering if you could clarify?

Hi Debbie, What is the new app called? For some reason I am not able to find it in my iTunes. From my understanding there should be 2 apps … the old cricut app and now the design space app. I have the old version but I can’t find the new version. Please help!
