I have created TWO fun projects to share with you today…a BIRTHDAY TRI-FOLD CARD and a matching GIFT CARD BAG. For my BLOG CANDY, I have a FREE Tri-Fold Shutter Card Instructions PDF for you so read on to get that. And PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO MY BLOG so you don’t miss any exciting future die cut projects !
TRI-FOLD CARD DIRECTIONS: I started by using the Tri-Fold Shutter Card File (click on link to get your FREE BONUS copy for yourself) with my Cricut Explore machine to create the base of the card. The file also has directions to make the card without a die cut machine as well.
PAPERS: I used the festive Confetti Wishes Paper Pack (click on link to see entire paper line) from CTMH. Its perfect for any age or even theme, doesn’t have to be just about birthdays. There are even matching Exclusive Ink Colors too which I used for stamping on my project. The blue is Pacifica and purplish color is Thistle.
6 – 12″ × 12″ B&T Duos™ Papers (2 each of 3 double-sided designs)
6 – 12″ × 12″ Cardstock Sheets (2 Canary, 2 Pacifica, 1 Crystal Blue, 1 Thistle)
STAMP SET: Next, I used the CTMH August Stamp of the Month “What a Hoot” for the OWL and the “what a hoot” sentiment plus the swirl embellishments. Technique Tip: I stamped the Owl image on different pieces of the Confetti Wishes paper and cut out then pieced them together on one complete stamped image on white cardstock.
This stamp set is so adorable and versatile…at first glance you think, oh its just for Halloween, right? But taking a second look I found several fun images on the stamp set I could use for my birthday card. I love it when I can get multiple different themes out of one stamp set, don’t you ?
Other fun projects made with this same August Stamp of the Month
I wanted to try something a little different with a birthday gift bag…instead of a big bulky one, I used these smaller paper bags and created a fun embellished belly band to add a little pizzaz to it ! They are perfect for gift cards, jewelry and any other smaller size gifts you want to give that special person. You could even use them for treats from a candy bar at events too. Isn’t that fun !
BELLY BAND EMBELLISHMENT DIRECTIONS:
1. Use (1) DESIGNER CREATIONS PAPER BAG. I used Gray Slate. They come in other luscious colors like Teal Lagoon, Ruby Red and Honey Yellow too. The bags are a great deal since they come in sets of 12 with 3 different designs for only $3.95.
2. Cut a strip of patterned paper 2″ X 10″ to form a belly band around bag. Adhere the ends together along the back of the bag with adhesive. I used the Striped CONFETTI WISHES PAPER for some added pop of color.
3. Cut one oval to stamp on and one slightly larger oval as a backgroun mat. Stamp a sentiment, I used the “A Little Something For You” stamp from the FOR A FRIEND STAMP SET which is a CRICUT CTMH ART PHILOSOPHY compatible cartridge. The beautiful blue ink is from the Confetti Wishes matching EXCLUSIVE PACIFICA INK. I used foam pop dots to raise it up slightly on the belly band.
4. Cut the Pin Wheel from CRICUT CTMH ARTISTE CARTRIDGE pg 50 at 1 1/2″. I used two different papers from Confetti Wishes Paper for contrast. I added a GOLD SEQUINS to the center. Use tape runner to add the Pin Wheel shape to 1/2 of a SLATE TWIST TIE to complete the final Pin Wheel on stick. I added the Pin Wheel to the back of the oval sentiment to finish off the Belly Band. *Note: I made two of these pin wheels on stick…1 for the card and 1 for the bag.
