Fabulous Die Cut Tips: Unusual Gift Card Holder

Sometimes the thing your loved one wants for a gift is just a gift card. But that can be soooo boring to give since half the fun of a celebration is having a present to unwrap, right?

Well hang on to your die cut machines, cause I have fun idea to add a little wow to your gift card giving. 

First off, think of something that your giftee loves…A passion, a hobby, or just something they hold dear?  In my case, this gift was for my daughter’s 30th birthday and she is our fashionista. She absolutely loves purses so that was my starting point.

SVG CUTS, which is a great site to find lots of awesome 3D shaped die cut images, has this wonderful Luxury Handbag Die Cut Set for only $6.99. I was so excited when I saw a purse in this set that looks just like a purse my daughter just bought 🙂 I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the handbag file.

Super easy to put together…it took only 3 sheets of patterned paper, a couple of small brads so the handle actually moves and a faux button to decorate flap.

I just loved adding the details of the faux button closure and the tassels.

I used some Tombow Self-adhesive fastner tabs to keep the flap closed.

The inside of this 3d purse was perfect for adding a gift card and some tissue.            You could easily have fit a few more small things in here as well.

It looked so real, that my daughter thought it was an actual purse when she took it out of the gift bag ! She was thrilled to get such a fun gift package.
