Day 20: 25 Days of Christmas Projects Inspiration

25 days of Christmas

Welcome to Day 20 of 25 Days of Christmas Project Inspiration:

Holiday Traditions

Holiday Traditions are important. What are yours? In our family, making time to go see holiday lights together is on our list. My husband wearing his red plaid flannel shirt when we go pick out our live Christmas tree every year and playing Christmas music in the car starting December 1st all the way through December 25th.  One of my favorite Holiday Traditions I love is giving our kids, grand kids and close friends a Christmas Ornament. Some are store bought, some are hand made by me but they all have one thing in common, they are chosen with love and care for that particular person.

This year I I made the ornaments. Some of them you have already seen during my 25 Days of Christmas Posts. I wanted to share with you today was I am making individual ornament boxes to give them in using my Silhouette Cameo.

Puffy Ornament Box Tutorial:

1. I used the 3D Puffy Ornament Box by Samantha Walker from the Silhouette Online store to create the boxes. There is a large box (the one I used) and a smaller box in this file.

2. I selected doublesided cardstock since you will see the inside of the box when assembled and you add the ornament.  The paper I used for the box shown is Tinsel by Making Memories and has been in my stash for awhile.

3. I cut out the ornament box using my Silhouette Cameo.  It takes (1) 12X12 sheet of doublesided paper to make the box.

4. Assemble the box. by folding the pieces on the creases and putting the box together. I only had to use 1 piece of adhesive Scor Tape along one edge to hold the whole box together. The bottom flap just folds together easily.

5. Add the bottom insert to the inside of the box. Then add the ornament.

Now add the top insert and put the top of the ornament in to the cut out shape to hold it in place in the box.

Close the box top and now you are ready to decorate the box and give the ornament to your recipient.  This box went together in a just a few minutes and was inexpensive to make. I love that I can select paper to use that compliments the ornament I am giving.

Wow, what a great tradition with the ornaments! And your husband wearing the same shirt to shop for Christmas trees – he’s a keeper! I like that closure on the bottom flap of the box; I think it makes it look more professional! And saves on scor tape!
