Day 19: 25 Days of Christmas Projects Inspiration
Welcome to Day 19 of 25 Days of Christmas Project Inspiration:
Christmas Plaque
Today I wanted to share a fun project that was inspired by something my mother-in-law said last Christmas at my house. So I made this placque I could hang up over the holidays this year.
LOL…I must admit this is a true statement. I tend to spoil my grand kids at the Holiday time (okay, you got me…ALL year long !) but that is what Nonny’s (grandma’s, memaws, granny’s, grandmother, etc) thrive on. It is our reward for having to raise the grand kids parents 🙂
Quick Tutorial on “My Nonny” Placque:
1. I purchased a painted wood and glass placque from Hobby Lobby. I measured the inside part of the frame so I could figure out the image size I could make to add to the placque.
2. I created a rectangle on the Silhouette mat using the box drawing tool. I used this as a guideline for the saying I wanted to do on the placque.
3. I selected a font from the font list (I used Cheri for the main words and Lucinda Handwriting for the Nonny) and typed in what I wanted to say.
4. Cut out on white Square 1 Glitter product. If you have not used Square 1 Adhesive backed fabric sheets you need to try them. They are easy to use and add a perfect amount of shine to your project.
5. After I weed the cut out, then I applied paper transfer tape and placed on the glass front of the placque. Tip: Rub the transfer tape with some pressure over each letter you transfer on the glass.
6. Carefully pull back the transfer tape to remove. Tip: apply a little more rubbing on letters that are not quite releasing.
7. Repeat applying each line of the saying until you are done. It’s easy and only took a few minutes to make.
8. Oh wait, since this is going up in my own home, I did add these self-adhesive rhinestone gems around the frame for extra holiday sparkle.
I can’t wait for my grand kids and family to see this at Christmas !

Did you color the hat red with your Copics? I would be great to add flocking to the hat, too! I need to refer back to all these projects during the next year, so I have time to make them! I KNOW I want to recreate several of them for next Christmas season!
I totally get the spoiling of the grandkids thing. When my 4 year old granddaughter received the goody bags I put together for her day care class, she told her mom that “Grandma Mathis is just like Mrs. Claus; I love her so much!” I had to do 75 to cover all 3 kids classes, and then sent 7 teacher gifts as well as cute gift baskets for the 3 kids to open when they opened up the package! I just HAD to do something special for THEM. I got to talk to the older two last night on the phone as they were opening up the package; it was so much fun! They’ll actually be WITH us for Christmas, I’m so excited.
