Fabulous Die Cut Tips: So Thankful Card

So Thankful for FALL !   Well, I guess some of us are still patiently waiting for fall to arrive with cooler temperatures, right?  Just because the fall season hasn’t made it to you yet does not mean you can’t start your fall crafting. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love the fall colors and the variety of products you can find to use in your fall projects.

Today I wanted to share with you a fall card using die cut shapes and some trendy fall products to kick up the look of your die cuts.

So Thankful Card Tutuorial:

supplies

Step 1:  Gather some fall colored supplies to use on your card.  Its fun to look at using supplies in a new way to add to your projects. ( Looking at photo left to right), I had these wood button jewelry pieces that I had in my stash.from a previous project and I thought would be perfect on a fall project. The adorable Jolee Acorns seemed a perfect choice for a fall project. Next, Sequins are all the rage right now, I could not resist picking up these Sequin Fall leaves from Hobby Lobby and the traditional sequins I had in my stash already.  And of course, some fall colored twine was a natural choice too.

Step 2: Start the card, by using a 5″X7″ kraft cardstock base. Cut a 4 1/2″ X 6 1/2″ piece of fall colored patterned paper. Ink the edges of the patterned paper with brown ink.

Step 3: Cut the Fall Damask from the Silhouette online store at 3 1/2″.  Here I used some dark brown glitter paper I had in my stash. Adhere to the front of card as shown.

stamping

Step 4: Gathering some stamp supplies to stamp a fall sentiment for your card.  Here I used the Inkadinkado Harvest Expressions Stamp set, Distress Embossing Powder and Distress Ink. And of course I needed the heat gun.

Step 5: Cut a label shape at approximately 2″ X 2 3/4″ to use for the card sentiment. I used a label from the 6 Bracket Labels with Shadow set in the Silhouette Online Store. Using a small hole punch, punch a hole on left side of your label shape. TIP: The stamp I wanted to use actually said “So Thankful for You”. I didn’t want the “for You” part so I added a piece of washi tape (masking tape works too) and covered up the “for you”.

add button to label

Step 6: Emboss the sentiment on the label. Ink the edges of the card with brown ink. Add slip the button with jump ring on it, onto the paperclip. Add twine in a bow on to the paperclip.

add label and acorn

Step 7 : Add the 3d embellishment piece (acorn) on top of the Flourish Leaf piece as shown in photo. Add the completed Label to right bottom of card using foam pop dots.

add sequins

Step 8:  Add the fall leaf sequins using foam pop dots to the two opposite corners of the card as shown. Next, using a clear liquid adhesive (my favorite is Glossy Accents) add small drops and then adhere the traditional sequins to the card base as shown and on the label.

Now you have a pretty, trendy Fall card ready to send to family or friends!  Check back tomorrow and I will show how I used some of the same supplies to make a beautiful fall layout.

All my comments are my own opinions on those products. I appreciate your support when you purchase using the post links.

  • What a wonderful card and I love the patterned paper you used. I did not know you could use distress ink for heat embossing. Can you tell me how that works?
