Fabulous Die Cut Tips: Cameo Control Panel Decor

If you are a Silhouette Cameo user, you know how awesome it cuts even the most intricate designs AND all the amazing images and materials you can cut.  But did you know you could “Dress Up” your Cameo Control Panel?

Cameo Control Panel

My Cameo Control Panel Decor

Those wonderful designers over at Silhouette created a Control Panel file just for us to help decorate our Cameo.  Wasn’t that sweet !

DIRECTIONS TO CUT :

1. Open your Silhouette Studio Software (I have the Designer edition but it is in the basic as well), locate the free Control Panel file. And open the file on your design space.

2. Use the dimensions already pre-set for this file. No need to change anything…

3. Load your favorite paper on your mat and cut the Control Panel file out. (You can even use the print n cut feature and flood the image with a digital paper if you prefer).

4. Pry up the plastic cover currently over the control panel.  There is a little notch at the top where you can just use your finger nail to get it up. I would NOT recommend using a sharp object to pry up because you don’t want to scratch the plastic cover.

5. Lay your newly cut out patterned paper over the control panel keys, then replace the plastic cover. It is best to place the bottom part of the cover in first, then pop the top plastic part into the top part of the machine.

Easy peasy… now you can change out your paper to match holidays, seasons or just for fun !

My current control panel paper is from the bright and cheery paper from American Craft’s Dear Lizzy “Lucky Charm” line of paper.  It really brightened up my Cameo and desk !

Tip 1: If you can’t find the file in your Silhouette software just do a search for Control Panel to find the file.

Tip 2:  If you don’t have the file you may need to download the 51 free images Silhouette provides.  To do that:

1. Open the Silhouette Studio software 2. Go to the “File” menu (PC) or “Silhouette Studio” menu (Mac) 3. Select “Preferences” 4. Select “Advanced” 5. Select “Restore the initial 51 designs”

So Cameo Users…are you going to give this a try? Of if you have already done this, how often do you change out your paper design?

All my comments are my own opinions on those products. I appreciate your support when you purchase using the post links.
