Ghost Diva Marquee Tutorial

Ghost Diva Graphic

It’s Halloween Week !  Woohoo!  We love decorating for Halloween at our house.  Even though our kids are grown, we still get a big kick out of the neighborhood kids stopping by in their adorable Halloween costumes and yelling Trick Or Treat. So I always make sure and have some fun things for them to ooh and awe over outside and inside the house.

I knew earlier this month when I saw this Ghost Marquee Love Sign from Heidi Swapp, it was the perfect thing to add to my entry hall table this year. You can purchase these at Michaels and Joanns still I believe.

Ghost Marquee Blank

These are easy to customize and come complete with the cut out, lights, bulbs and a template to use to cut out liner papers.

Somehow I just knew…this Ghost was destined to be a Ghost Diva Marquee Sign so I set out to pretty her up.  Here is a quick tutorial of what I did.

GHOST DIVA TUTORIAL

Setting up the Marquee Ghost

1. Unbox the Ghost

2. Use the template included and trace on the back side of your paper you want to use to customize the background. I used White Glitter cardstock. Be sure to trace around the holes too.

3. Cut out along the outline of your traced image and use a hole punch to punch the holes where the lights will go through later

4. Place the paper inside the Ghost shape and push all the way against the backing.

5. Add the bulbs by pushing them in each of the holes around the Ghost shape.  Note: I purchased an optional box of the Purple bulbs to use on my Ghost Diva.

6. Using the instructions that came in the Ghost Marquee box, add the lights in the correct order shown.  Note: each Marquee sign has different lighting patterns.

7. Add (2) AAA batteries to the battery pack and you can use the included foam tape to fasten inside the Ghost shape

Decorating the Marquee Ghost

Ghost Cricut Images

1.  Cut out a banner for the Ghost to hold.  I used some black burlap fabric from a Michaels Recollection paper paper for added texture and cut with my Cricut Explore.                                                           Each banner piece is about 2 inches high.(see above for banner image # )

2.  Cut out the work BOO from Orange glitter paper and adhere to each banner piece. I cut them at 1″ high.

3.  Cut a length of twine to use to hang the banner from the Ghost “hands”.  Tie a knot on each end.

4.  Use 1/8″ Scor Pal tape to adhere the banner pieces to the center of the twine.

5.  Use mini clothes pins for the ghost to hold the banner.  I bought orange glitter ones from Michaels.

6.  Cut a crown about 3″ wide from Orange Glitter Paper.  Add black self-adhesive gem stones to front.  Adhere to edge of the Ghost head with Scor-Pal tape.

7.  Add some black and orange self-adhesive gem stones to the front of the ghost body.

8. Turn on the light switch.

You now have your Ghost Diva Marquee Sign….adorable, right ?

Ghost 3

She looks so cute on the entry hall table with some of the other items I made with my Cricut Explore. I know the kids are gonna love her this year. They always enjoy looking for the NEW item         I add either inside or out.
