Thanksgiving Pumpkin Using Square 1 Masterpiece
Eeek, Thanksgiving is next week…and I am hosting dinner ! Guess it is time to start decorating the house. I love to change up the decor each year for the table and elsewhere in the house. I bought a white pumpkin after Halloween on sale and wasn’t sure what to do with it, then a brainstorm happened. How about a Thanksgiving Pumpkin for my entry hall table !
Thanksgiving Pumpkin Tutorial:
1. I selected the Give Thanks image by Jamie Koay from the Silhouette online store and cut it out of Square 1 Masterpiece dark brown repositionable product. I love this product, you use it just like Vinyl except it is easy to use and does not tear since it is a fabric adhesive backed product.Comes in tons of great colors. And since it is respositionable you can re-use it. Just peel it off, stick on a backing sheet and its ready the next time you want to adhere it again. How cool is that?
2. Carefully “weed” away the part of the image you will not be using. Tip: I like to use a hook tool to “weed” away the part of the image I am not using.
3. After the image was weeded, I used some paper transfer tape to help me place it on the pumpkin image. I gently laid it on the pumpkin surface without starting to smooth down so I could make sure it was aligned where I wanted it. Then I smoothed it down starting in the center and worked my way to the edges.
4. Working from the center towards the outside of the image, I burnished it with my hands, which means I rubbed it down until I could see more the color popping up on the transfer tape.Notice in the photo below that the left side of the image is now darker through the tape. Its a subtle difference but that is how you know your image is adhering well to the surface.
5. After burnishing all the image, I carefully roll back the transfer tape starting at one corner, moving towards the center. Pressing the product down as I go to make sure it is adhered well to the surface of my project. If it seems to not be sticking, just burnish a little more with your hands. Continue doing that until you have removed the transfer tape and your image is adhered to your project. Tip: Since this pumpkin has ridges, I paid careful attention to making sure I adhered the Square 1 to those valleys the ridges created. It worked perfectly !
As you can see, I also added a fall pick and some ribbon to complete the pumpkin. I loved how easy this was to do and how quick it was to make ! Hmmm, now I think I need to tackle doing one on an Orange pumpkin using our family monogram to go with this. Stay tuned to see that one.
